It was win-win for the Bulldogs Friday at the 2003 edition of the
Kia Klassic in Fullerton. After the Bulldogs scored seven runs to defeat
#3Nebraska earlier in the day, and beat Hawai'i in an
evening game.
Bulldog shortstop Christina Clark put the game's first run on the
board with a solo home run in the third inning off of Hawai'i pitcher
Melissa
Coogan. Jamie Southern made the score 3-0 with a home run three batters
later, bringing
in Angelina
Diaz,
who
had walked.
That was the only scoring the Bulldogs needed, as Hawai'i scored only
once. Stacey Porter tripled and Kate Judd drove her in with a double
in the sixth inning.
Southern scattered six singles
besides the sixth-inning double and triple, and struck
out 11
Wahine en route to her sixth win of the year, against
eight losses.
Bulldog third baseman Angelina Diaz was 2-for-2 with a walk, and DP
Elizabeth Pierce went 2-for-3 in the game.
